I have now been to Killington Mountain and have travelled for a few weeks – it’s been a great adventure. First to Las Vegas then to Boston and after that we drove up to Killington Mountain. We have enjoyed the city and night-life in Vegas and eaten at the Cheesecake Factory in Boston and skied the slopes on Killington Mountain. The snow-conditions have been superb. Because we have been flying a bit I felt like sketching a pilot in Manga style - a bit of an adventurous look in his eyes - just the way I have felt for all of this trip! I will post more pictures and drawings from this adventure asap. |  | |

| Patterns and inspiration everywhereCategory: Photography | |
I think there are patterns and shapes that inspire you everywhere. I was walking past the pool and took a picture of the tiles surrounding the edge. They look ruff and give a nice symmetrical feel. The blue colour gives a nice cool association - reminding you of the sea and water - or the way one thinks that water looks like. Enjoy your surroundings and see if you can incorporate them into your designs and ideas. I might use this picture as a header on the blogg – keep looking in and you might recognize it. | | |

We are in Las Vegas, USA for a couple of days. So I thought it would be nice to post this baseball-player. America is the land of baseball. Many years ago I played a lot of baseball – first base. The drawing came up as a suggestion for a little tournament among friends and colleagues from work. | Astonishing view from Talu islandCategory: Photography | |
I have just come back from a vacation in Thailand, Rayong. We stayed at a hotel by the beach on the mainland. One day we took a boat trip to two islands - turtle island where they had turtle breeding and to Talu island which is a small beautiful island with white sand, clear water and corals and make for snorkling. We walked through the woods up a hill across the small island to the other side where this beautiful view met us. These are the moments that you remember and that are so peaceful for the soul. | | |

| A cartoon bird in graffiti styleCategory: Cartoons | |
Here is a cartoon bird. I was drawing this bird in different poses just to see his characteristics and get the feel of how he would look like. I have used dots in a pointilistic kind of way to give him some depth – and added just a few colours too.  Here is a side-view. It is good if one would draw several pictures or even use him in a cartoon or cartoon film – then this helps the animators to give him a more realistic look. I scribbled a little walk too. Just to see if he was fit enough for running about.  | | |

When we were in Egypt over Christmas we lived at the Kiroseiz resort. We had a nice stay and, of course, did a lot of sightseeing. The hotel we lived in had a distinct sky-line as you can see on the photograph. Very nice lines and a super blue sky. Every day was pleasantly warm and sunny. The arches are nicely balanced with the squares – a good balance between the two – and especially in this corner above our room. | | |

| The Thames Lodge in StainesCategory: Photography | |
I attended two trainings this autumn for Salesforce to learn how to develop Salesforce applications and to get certified: DEV-401 and DEV-501. At both occasions I stayed at the Mercure Thames Lodge in Staines outside London. It's a nice hotel located by the Thames and very close to both Salesforce and IBM if you are there to see any of them. I lover English breakfast with sausage, bacon, beans in tomato sauce, toast and so on which was served at the hotel. I also had dinner every night at the hotel since the socializing among the training attendees weren't really there for some reason. They served a great ciabatta with sirloin steak and onion sauce that I can really recommend. Staines is kind of boring to be honest, at least the part that I have seen. But the trainings were great and the hotel was good and if you like to run it is possible to do so by the river for a couple of kilometers. | | |

I painted some aquarelles the other day and got lost in some ideas about a Neptune-like man holding fire as you can see. I thought he should have cool flowing hair and a similar flame in his hand. I have given him some outlines in ink to get a more distinct feel and look. Probably got this idea from all the diving and looking at corals in Egypt! It is nice to get lots of good influence from the world around you. | | |

It has been, and still is, a beautiful winter here in the North. It has been snow everywhere and it is a wonderful landscape – almost like in Doctor Zhivago or Narnia. I saw some icicles yesterday and thought they actually are very pretty and inspirational. There is perfect weather for tobogganing and building snow-caves. Have a nice winter! | | |

| A warrior inspired from the Bedouins in EgyptCategory: Illustration | |
I got very inspired by the Bedouins we met in Egypt – so I just thought it would be cool to fantasise about what a Bedouin warrior, from long ago, would look like. He might still keep some of the clothing as you can see in my sketch. But still he needs a few things that are more meant for fighting. Here he is anyway – the wind blowing through his clothes… His sword I would say is from some raid or something – not very Egyptian. I made a broader sword to give more of a fearful fight feeling – and also show that he is a strong warrior being able to fight with this heavy sword. So it is mostly the head-piece that he is wearing that resembles a real Bedouin – but his fighting spirit is there! | | |

The very appreciated event LotusPhere 2010 took place in January this year again. I was there in 2006 and I'd really like to go back some year. During Lotusphere 2007 (if I remember correctly) there was a lot of focus on Secondlife from IBMs side and I created my avatar Nicolas Paravane. His current looks are on todays photo (ok, this is not a real photo, but it is a SecondLife photo). There was a period when I spent quite some time there. I built a house together with a very talented Secondlife architect for the consultant company, where I worked for a while. I also created a secondlife football script. I have had ideas to do more fun stuff and Secondlife still seem to be going strong. Are you using it? | | |

| An orange cartoon in aquarelleCategory: Cartoons | |
I have been doing a lot of aquarelle paintings lately - as you might have noticed. Mainly because I brought a box containing aquarelle paints along when we went to Egypt. You might have come in contact with the type of box too – it’s from “Winsor & Newton”. They make lots of nice aquarelle boxes as well as colours for the boxes.  When I had some time over and in the mood I started painting lots of different things. Some of them I will post here as you may have gathered by now. The aquarelle paints give a wonderful flow to creating a character like this. The orange colours give nice texture and also give the cartoon extra dimensions as you can see. Wouldn’t be a bad character to have in a little children’s book – might get into that later! This time it’s a little orange fellow I have called ”Orangie” – he is a little happy fellow that tries to do good in his neighbourhood. | | |

| Pyramids in Cairo, EgyptCategory: Photography | |
As you might have read earlier I have been on vacation in Egypt. We were in Sharm el sheikh – but I thought that we just had to see Cairo and the legendary Pyramids too. The pyramid treasures and design are from thousands of years ago. We took the bus there – a long ride you can say that started late or in the middle of the night – to make it to the Pyramids in the morning. While entering Cairo and looking at today’s architecture in this pulsating city… as from nowhere I saw the first glimpse of the Pyramids appear in the far distance behind some buildings. The smog was still pretty thick and you can just see the famous silhouettes. One might have thought that we would travel over sand-dunes on camel-backs. Instead we arrive in this more modern alternative – by air-conditioned bus. Amazing feeling – finally we are here – at these legendary shapes and architectural master-pieces. The weather, sand and winds have taken their toll and made imprint on the surface of the pyramids – but it still is exciting and really nice to be here! Very impressive atmosphere round the pyramids from the far distance. I was really looking forward to getting up close. Tell you more about that later. | | |

| A blue monkey in the freezing coldCategory: Aquarelle | |
It has been really cold here in Sweden for some time now. Very pretty with all the snow and a bit colder than in Egypt – I just spent a few weeks there. It is about fifty degrees colder in Stockholm. So this monkey – blue of cold - represents how cold I felt getting off the plane when we arrived home - but there is a good thing about the snow. It makes the dark nights very much lighter - and very pretty too - when the full moon is up, for instance. The snow almost sparkles in the moonlight! The monkey is made in aquarelle and ink. By the way – there are lots of fun things to do in the snow too! Snowboarding, tobogganing, skiing and building snowmen – don’t forget the hot cup of chocolate when you get back in again! | | |

This summer, down by the food store, I saw this rare thing on the parking lot and had to take some photos of it. I am not good with cars, in fact I am hopeless with barely no interest at all. But this is a beauty, isn't it? I have done some researching and this is a Jaguar E-Type 4.2. It was in production between 1961 to 1975 and has certainly a very special shape.  The man who owned it saw me take the picture and admiring his car and he said "You have to be over 50 to own this car". Now, I am not, but when I am I will probably buy one just like this | | |

| A Bedouin night in EgyptCategory: Illustration | |
I have just been away in Egypt for a super two weeks - really good weather and a great adventure. Experienced lots of different things - one was a “Bedouin-night” – of course made and inspired for tourists – but I really enjoyed it - and of course the Bedouin camels. I got to ride one too. A very large animal – very calm and had a nice pace when walking in the desert. I have also been swimming and snorkelling in the ”Red sea”. Super beautiful – and I checked out some ancient designs too – The Pyramids. Tell you more soon – there is lots. It’s been snowing like mad here in Stockholm the last week. We have snow everywhere. Just this Saturday there was so much snow and I had to get my boat out of the water before the ice comes. There even was a thin layer – so it was time. I got it up safe with the help of my father – and a lot of shovelling of snow too. I thought about snowmen and decided to paint a little one when I got home. Here he is. It is very beautiful with all the snow – and it really lights up the dark nights. | | |

| The stairs to the Hunterian MuseumCategory: Photography | |
I had to show this graphic photograph – it has of course nicely designed stairs – but it also has a very nice graphic look. The stairs lead up on to the next floor – and then finally - the very well made ceiling. The picture feels very powerful. Even though the main colours are yellow and black, the iron shapes really stand out and overtake the whole feeling of the picture. It almost looks inspired by Maurits Cornelis Escher’s impossible structures – “Ascending and Descending “. Inspiring architecture! | | |

When I was drawing ducks the other day I had some different styles of ducks going. The last one I posted had a big beak – this one has a bigger beak. The beak is very much the whole duck-head. Me and my kids went for a trip to a bathing place last summer and while we went to buy some ice cream a nosy (and hungry) mallard came to us hoping for something to eat. If you look closely you can see some waffle on his neb that we gave him. Although I really appreciate the snow that falls down now for christmas, it feels nice to think about the warm summer. Hope he is ok now and not too cold (the mallard that is)... | | |

I have had a great day out in the archipelago. Really nice weather and I was getting a Christmas-tree for the living-room. Found a super nice one! Here is a little cartoon duck I did last evening when I got home. He is looking really surprised when he sees the enormous tree… I have done it in water-colour and ink. The water-colour gives nice shadings and extra life to the character. | | |

My mother was in Glasgow, Scotland, the other day. There she took this picture of a beautiful mineral called Hematite (a valuable ore of iron) – very creative I must say. Hematite has really nice colours and also shapes that absolutely inspire. This was displayed in the Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University. I might use this in a nice background for a cool invitation or something like that - maybe for a coming new-year’s eve party or something similar! | | |

The other day I got a question if I could design a logotype for the little ceramic-shop in Stockholm, Östermalm. The potter is Jean Easdale and she produces lots of beautiful ceramics and pots. She needed a symbol and logotype for bags for clients, business-cards and maybe even a website in the future. So I have made “P” twice - as in Pottery Presents. They are stylish and sober to give the right feeling to the logo that is representing the shop or boutique. If you are in Stockholm some time you should check out the little boutique – and who knows you might fall for something that you like. I can assure you that you will get a lot of inspiration and enjoy the beautiful artwork! | | |

Here I have been sketching different types of skulls to get a tattoo feeling for a skate print. I guess to make it have the right feeling it must be the same “look” as a tattoo would give. I have been sketching different skull-sketches and designs for a future project. So I made this version too and added some letters above. It says “Wohill” as you can see. I am also designing a few font-styles for a logotype - or testing a few different styles. The style I was looking for is similar to an “Old English” font. One of my friends has a taxi-boat company (SeaCab). The transports are mainly passengers out into the Swedish archipelago. He also takes school children from the different islands and brings them to the island of Möja – where the school is situated. In the winters there is usually ice everywhere and boats can’t get through. So then they use hovercrafts. There are several hovercrafts and hovercraft-pilots that drive around in the archipelago. This year there were a few new drivers or pilots – the original pilots wanted to welcome them into the group of existing pilots by giving them a “first year” diploma each. They are called new comers or baby-pilots. I made this illustration to put on the diplomas - to get the feeling of that they were baby hovercrafts – or rather baby hovercraft-pilots! Here is a nice piece of art from Brussels. This photo was taken by my mother, who just happened to pass by this art-piece. She very often works and lives in Brussels – and she often sends a picture or two to show me some things she sees – like this for instance. I think it was a really inspiring-looking work of art – so had to post it to show you too. Nice combination with the blue painted steel construction and the orange people hanging or walking within it. It is good for your inspiration to see other people and what they are creating – even if it is not in your field or imagination just right now - but it could be a great boost for new ideas and getting something completely different going – activate your brain – activate your imagination. | | |

Here is a sketch from the black-book again. I was sketching away on a spray-can dude standing and looking at his art-piece. It has a floating feeling and he has written the word “Super”. He got the floating part, but his dilemma is that it is crumbling to pieces. Is it as super as it should be? Is there always something extra he wants to add? Is it the problem of not adding too much, otherwise it would then make the piece crumble into something that wasn’t intended from the beginning? – So what are we learning? – Never to add more if you already feel satisfied. It can make your whole masterpiece crumble and fail. Go with your gut feeling – enjoy art. Get a nice wallpaper for your screen. | | |
