Wonderful architecture and very nice rivers and bridges all over Amsterdam - that was the impression of this city. A very nice city with a high pulse and feeling too - lots of bicycles and people riding them too by the way. So this felt very energetic and still people were sitting all over the place taking it easy too. Super little canals and lots of activity on them. Boats going up and down – almost as much traffic as on the roads with cars! | | |

We lived part of the time at “Citizen M” - a very nice design hotel. You should visit some time if you get the possibility. A nice hotel with a lot of small details that gave it just that little extra you could want. I met Iris and Timo from Hamburg briefly and had a little chat. It turned out that Timo had taken a lot of pictures while visiting Amsterdam… We got talking and he works with “Post” – designing and fixing pictures and making the best out of them. He had on a cool “monkey” t-shirt – so I posted this monkey cartoon above. The monkey is holding a palm-tree or leaf if you please – standing on the letter “g”. It was pleasure meeting Irene and Timo – might meet again somewhere! | | |

Me and part of my family went to Sigtuna in Sweden. It is a very old city in Sweden where Vikings lived. I could talk a lot about this city but read more on the linked site instead. While walking near the water I spotted a mallard duck family, missing the father though. They are trying to swim through the water lillies. To be able to do so they have to climb over some of the bigger ones. Cute ones! | | |

Today has been a fantastic day. We have been to a great lunch with smögåstårta and coffee. Really nice I must say. Great boat-ride too by the way. So I’m sitting waiting for the final in the World Cup and thought I would sketch a little pictogram. This is what I made. A little devil dude – a cartoon feel to it and not to devilish in any way. | A super trip from Finland to SwedenCategory: Photography | |
A good friend of mine has a taxi-boat company. He has just expanded a lot after succesful hard work. This means that he is able to order a new boat. This is the sixth boat in the armada. A few friends have all traveled to Finland with him, including myself, to drive the boat home to the Swedish archipelago – a great adventure and a trip over the Baltic sea. We passed a few light-houses, seagulls, seals and islands. Here is a light-house that we passed at the beginning of our return-trip. | | |

You need someone to hang out with or someone to help you be everywhere. Here is a cartoon dude that hangs out by himself as you can see. He is hanging on his back – barbequing underneath and as a dude standing around. Now it is nice to have lots of friends and family to be with and hang out with. I just felt it was a fun feeling to run around by oneself and do lots of things for fun – as well as lots of things one just has to do – lots on one’s agenda. One needs to be everywhere at the same time. Enjoy the situation you are in until the next one arrives! | | |

I took my kids to the Technical museum in Stockholm where we spent half a day looking at many different things. Both old and new stuff and games and things that makes you think. Anyway in one of the first rooms there were a lot of old cars, motorcycles and other vehicles. I found this old Harley Davidson from 1927. I think it looks cool and ugly at the same time. It's more of a moped than a motorcycle today. | | |

| Ant in tree at MöjaCategory: Photography | |
I was out in the archipelago this Mid-summer. In fact, this is a bit of a tradition for me. I am able to get out to the wonderful island of Möja. Anyway, it has been super weather and dancing round the midsummer-pole (midsommarstången) was great fun I must say! Well, we also went out for a cruise in the boat at the same time. We all went for a swim on the other side of Bergbofjärden. There some timber had been chopped down – and in one of the tree-trunks there were lots of ants. Check-out the picture and there you will be able to see that lots of animals have eaten away almost the whole inside of the tree. Happy Mid-summer everyone! I made a couple of sketches on my folder from Berghs - as you might have seen the last few days. I used the folder to keep some of my papers in order during the course at Berghs. I have drawn these cartoon-looking characters in ink pens from Copic - really a nice feel to those pens - and an interesting surface to draw on too. Almost like a dry canvas! Have enhanced the feeling of the folder-designs by showing a chess-table in the background – a nicely organized pattern. | | |

My sons were out playing as usual and found this little brown caterpillar in the backyard. A cool little thing, I wonder what it will be when it transforms into something. I like these zoomed in photos and realize that I need to get a camera lens that allows for even more closing in photographs. | | |

While sitting there my eye caught this wonderful yellow flower - very pretty and all by itself in the grass. In Swedish it is called “Smörblomma” (butter flower in direct translation), but in English is known as “Buttercup”. Don’t miss out on the beautiful days we have right now. I have been attending a course at Berghs School of Communication this term. It has been a lot of designing. Meanwhile I couldn’t help drawing a bit on the folder we got… There were a lot of creative people on this course so that made me feel like sketching away. This is a dude shouting out the logotype for Berghs. In fact Berghs could be a bit more graphic in their branding – and a bit more “out there” in their visual identity – since they are all about creativity. Otherwise I must say it was a nice course. | | |

I was out on Djurö (Animal Island) at the beginning of spring and the neighbour there has some fun animals. He has horses, dogs and some hens. When I was out for a walk I took some pictures of the hens. Here is a completely white hen. Its red comb on top of its head really stands out. And the rooster – just like all roosters wakes up the whole island and all the animals every morning. Cockadoodle dooooooo! | | |

I made “Protke” the other day - a little green cartoon or manga figure. As inspiration I had the Gogos. Small plastic figures that are about 20mm high – they are made in lots of different colours and shapes. Then I felt like drawing one for Wohill. So it was time to make one more – this one has a space gun to defend “Protke” and himself from space-monsters. And to shoot bouncy flowers that can land on top of you! This little dude I have named ”Negits”. Made a little wallpaper too… | | |

I was out on the island of Möja the other day and went for an early morning walk. It was a bit misty and cold and then I stumbled upon this lamp. In the misty feeling that day the lamp gave a very orange colour as you can see. Really nice – not a very common outdoor lamp any more! Very simple old design – and still very clean in its portrayal against the grey sky. | | |

We took a walk a morning on our vacation trip to Rayong, Thailand and stumbled upon this sign. I find it funny since I come from Sweden although I understand it's very common in other countries. In Sweden we only have signs like this for some wild animals like Moose and Roedeer. Domesticated animals rarely have their own signs and for me it could as well be a pig on that sign. This time I drew a little cartoon character in black and white. To give him a little more warmth and feeling I coloured only one part of his clothing red – the sweater. This enhances the picture a bit and gives him some more life. Even though spring is just on the way I think he should probably take off that warm sweater and just have a t-shirt. | | |

I have been making a few characters lately in illustrator CS4… I thought I might illustrate this little green bird-like dude in Photoshop instead. Now the new release of CS5 is near and it will be interesting to see what they have done in the new versions of the CS5 package. Maybe illustrating characters and cartoons will be different, or are they focusing on other things? We will find out soon enough. Hope you enjoy the little green cartoon bird. In Sweden Monsteras are popular houseplants. It is a long plant with big leaf blades that can be up to 6 meters high. The wild Monstera can be up to 10 meters high. The example that I found in Rayong in Thailand was climbing a tree as you can see in the photo. The ground roots are in the earth but the monstera also has air roots. If you have seen this plant only in a living room it is a fascinating thing to see it in the wild climbing a tree like this. | | |

I made a little green or yellow dude last week so I kept the same design-style in mind and made a monkey too. He is standing on all fours looking for bananas (I guess). I made him like a pictogram - that could represent monkeys in general. To give him a little more feeling and personality I have named him ”Gnok”.
