I was trying out our new Wii Fitness board yesterday (which is loads of fun by the way). The Wii Fitness board is a board that stands on the ground that you stand on and that is connected to the Wii console used for balance, yoga, aerobics and muscular workout.
When first registering with the Wii Fitness board you have to register some things about yourself like length and age and perform a test. The system will then calculate your age, BMI and Wii age. After this you can set up goals on how to get in more shape.
BMI is an abbreviation for
Body Mass Index and can simply speaking give you an indication of in how good shape you are. It can also be very misleading if you have a lot of muscles but you're not that tall. Anyway, if you're not working out that much it should give som indication to think about.
I got some facts from about this index:
* A BMI of less than 18 means you are under weight.
* A BMI of less than 18.5 indicates you are thin for your height.
* A BMI between 18.6 and 24.9 indicates you are at a healthy weight.
* A BMI between 25 and 29.9 suggests you are overweight for your height.
* A BMI of 30 or greater indicates obesity. If you are obese, try consulting a doctor or losing weight.
I created a small form with a function below that calculates your BMI. Since there are different calculations depending on which measuring system you are using - you have to specify wheather you are using kilograms or pounds and add your length as meters or inches.
Mine is currently 24,78 by the way
