Monkeys before Christmas

Monkeys before Christmas

Lots to do before Christmas comes along. Everybody is shopping and hopping around like monkeys – getting ready for the holidays. Food, toys, wrapping-paper – you name it… they just need to buy it now. I was out to get some things and I must say that lots of people were out on the move. I don’t really mind all the people. It is actually interesting to see all of these different kinds of people handling X-mas in their own way. Put things into perspective – don’t forget to enjoy the moment.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Moustache man

Moustache man pictogram

The moustasche – pretty many styles and ways to have your moustasche. Really long or short and well trimmed. Or maybe not even having a moustasche is a statement per se.

This little pictogram represents the mustasche – the fun moustasche.

Steve Jobs – honorary pictogram

by Sven R. Ohlson on October 10, 2011

in Pictogram

Steve Jobs

Sadly Steve Jobs has passed away – an icon in his time, missed but will never be forgotten…

I still remember having the first contact with the Macintosh – and the first times I ever had the opportunity to click around and even draw in the computer. Just then and there I thought – this must be a great thing and that I wanted to do more and more and use it even for work – I still am! All these years have gone and Steve Jobs and his team have really made lots of wonderful things!

A pictogram to his honour – Steve Jobs with an Apple-like feel to him. The little leaf gets to stand for ”growing creativity”. Stay creative!

A chameleon to symbolize a brand of many trades

by Sven R. Ohlson on September 19, 2011

A colourful chameleon

I had a presentation the other day – for a client of mine. The presentation itself was about many different topics and ideas…

One of the topics was about the company adapting to their clients’ different needs – and how would they do that in a better manner than they are doing today. For symbolism I had chosen a lot of different pictograms to portray their different strengths – and one of them was the chameleon – to show just how well they could adapt.

The chameleon can be used to show many ways to adapt – you choose!

A lot of Monkey pictograms

by Sven R. Ohlson on August 1, 2011

Monkey pictogram

I have had some more requests that have asked for suggestions of some monkey pictograms. So the other night we sat and had a little meeting about an opening sequence for an upcoming program… I then had a little break – we have had a little bit to do this summer… and I thought that I would draw a little more – more monkeys. Then I went in and used Illustrator and made this little monkey pictogram. It could be nice to use as a t-shirt print or maybe for a label of some kind.

The options are many. I will post some more monkey drafts soon again and also tell you more about the opening sequence that we are making right now.

A new monkey pictogram

A monkey pictogram

I have had many positive comments and requests concerning the Monkey Pictogram I posted some time ago. Everything from buying it to getting me to design something similar!

Because of that I have made several different ones… Really a super-fun challenge! Here is another one for you to have a look at… Maybe you feel this would be the one you would want to have… or something in this direction. Even though it is a monkey pictogram or only a monkey face pictogram – it is still different from the first one. Only small details have changed but yet a different expression and feeling – or what do you think?

It would be cool to have it as a print for a t-shirt too…

Madrid, Spain and the mythical matador

by Sven R. Ohlson on May 9, 2011

Matador pictogram from Madrid

I have been in Spain for the weekend – or more exactly – as you might have read on my twitter ( svenrohlson ) – I have been in Madrid. Visited lots of nice places and of course the Museo del Prado! I have mentioned this before… It is good for inspiration to see and enjoy art in all kinds of ways. I didn’t see any bull-fights even though I have heard so much about them. Even in the early years of my life I remember the kind Disney Bull cartoon – Ferdinand the bull.

I saw many souvenir shops with pictures and posters. Even a few street artists selling some posters! Bull-fighting I think started out already somewhere around 700 AD (711 AD). I don’t know if there even was a possibility to see any bull-fights any more. They are a pretty cruel way to entertain the crowds. Didn’t think of getting to see it “LIVE” – but if you “google it” – there is lots of information about it! But it still gave me the idea to draw this little pictogram or design of the mythical matador with his sword.

The Bull itself is a mighty symbol of strength – and it should be. I have used it as my company logo too – Logo Grande – A bull to show that I make a strong and characteristic design. I think it makes better use of the bull in that way. Check it out if you got time!

The Easter rooster pictogram

by Sven R. Ohlson on April 25, 2011

The Easter Rooster

Easter is here and there are a lot of eggs going around. I have eaten regular, chocolate, marzipan, and ones made of sweets. Nice to get into the spirit and actually I enjoy a lot of the different versions of eggs too. Today we even had traditional Easter-cake. It was a light-green iced fruit-cake with yellow chickens on it.

I made a little pictogram of a rooster’s head especially for the occasion. I used the same angles or triangles to make it more interesting. One could turn it over and he would have red feathers on his neck instead but still have the yellow beak! You get the idea…

It has been a fantastic day and it is time to get all the boats ready for spring and launch them. We got one boat in already – that could be because it was in all winter. It is really nice to get some time out at sea again… The ”skärgårdskryssare” (archipelago –cruiser) wooden sailing-boat is next. Today I have been scraping off some loose paint – tomorrow I will sand off the varnish on deck. I’ll keep you up-to-date when it is ready to sail off into the archipelago!

A little car pictogram

by Sven R. Ohlson on January 31, 2011

in Pictogram

Well, back from the Canary Islands – had a super time! Nice weather and a lot of water-fun – playing, swimming and some surfing. Really nice!

I was sketching on the plane home and thought about different cars, hotrods and nostalgic things… Then I sketched this little VW bubble – in a little bit of a hotrod style. Not to make into something far too detailed or so… just a little quick drawing. Just enough to give it a hotrod feel!

Tomorrow I’m off to some meetings and going to get some good photos for an ad we are making for a client. That will be fun! It is just a little handout – but it will be nice to try out their new profile and graphics that I am putting together.

I’ll show more of it soon.

A little symbol of Christmas

by Sven R. Ohlson on December 27, 2010

in Pictogram

A lot of X-mas spirit is in the air at this time of year. Christmas in shopping-windows, offices, streets and at home – all over there is Christmas in the air. And here in Stockholm I must say it is a lot of snow all over the place… really makes the Christmas feeling grow.

I have been at a few nice friends and have eaten lots of nice food. Everything from traditional ham to super-nice turkey and Christmas cake… a favourite of mine.

Enjoy the little pictogram of a tree that also has a bit of a black arrow feeling to it. The X is the Christmas star and also X as in X-mas.

Merry X-mas everyone
