The Swedish Princess Victoria is currently seeing a Mr Daniel Westling. They have met through his company - this I, myself, haven’t confirmed – but information according to some Swedish magazine. He runs a successful training and health-club in the middle of Stockholm. It’s called “Balance” and it is situated on Lastmakargatan 10 close to Stureplan, to be a bit more specific.

Last week the morning paper ”Dagens Nyheter” had an article about Mr. Daniel Westling. It was about the possibility of him and the Princess getting married. Since he isn’t royalty or born with a heraldic name – he doesn’t have a symbol or Coat of Arms. The article stated that they thought that he needed one – so this got me thinking right away. So I started out with a monogram for him. A monogram is often made of your initials – one to four is what usually is permitted as a standard. So the initials are ”D” and ”W”. I want them to feel integrated and work well together. The two letters have a nice flow and feel like one symbol instead of being two separate letters. They could be interesting to integrate into a shield of some kind. The shield would integrate into his Coat of Arms.

I started out on a shield to as you can see. The shield is designed in a French ”old-style”. I think that will be appropriate since he is marrying, if they do get married, into the Swedish Royal Family – and they are related to the Bernadotte family of French origin.

Now I’ll get back to designing the rest of his Coat of Arms.

Hi All,
I am Nic. Randolph has already introduced me in two earlier creations; In "Faces of Wohill" - symbolizing us and also a special symbol for me, which I do intend to use. Great work and thank you very much partner!

I am not a newbie to blogging. I am running another blog - Nick's corner - and have been for two years now. This, Wohill, is somewhat different however. Let me explain.

Me and Randolph have been working together on this blog project for quite some time now (at least when speaking in Internet time). If you take a look at the left side of the page, below entries and wallpapers etc, you'll see for how many days it has been running. Actually we started on the 3rd of January 2008 and since that Randolph has been blogging for three times a week with new ideas and constantly cool and fresh designs. During this time we have grown in several ways - the amount of blog posts of course but we have also grown into the design and feeling of the site and become good friends with it.
We have been trying to make the site more exciting and fun and with a better user experience all along, using two main concepts - design and development. Mostly for ourselves but also for our visitors. To be able to continue doing this you really have to enjoy what you're doing - you have to be passionate of what you're doing.

Randolph mentioned that he thinks that we are a great combo and I believe that is very much true. We have been and we will have lots of fun, we will learn many things and we will be able to contribute to the communities to which we address in a very good way. The reasons for this are two in my opinion; The first is that we are two people with expertise in two different areas - design and development. And the other is that both of us are extremely passionate at what we do. The combination of these two is what makes the difference. We will be able to deliver more content, expertise in two areas and a unique combination of design and development that hopefully will attract and help people in many different situations. This makes it funny and incredible interesting in my and Randolph's point of view. I can assure you that money is not the reason to why we are doing this but solely our passion.

So having said that, I will start blogging about what I'm passionate about - development. And web development is one very big part of it. I will write about new features we bring into the site, how we have chosen to take different approaches, solutions to code problems, css issues, tips and tricks, references to other great sites and so on.

Nic got a character-drawing of himself and myself last time. This time I’m taking the subject a bit further. Nic needs a symbol too. This ”button-like” symbol resembles a key on the keyboard – since that is one of his main operating tools - just as the pen would be mine. To make his symbol associate with him I wrote his name through the outlined box. The corners are curved to give even more of the keyboard characteristics. I gave the box and text some more life by giving it a bit of a glowing feeling as you can see. By making an extra highlight on the top part of his name you automatically let your eyes focus on his name. This helps to understand and remember the logotype till next time you run across it - maybe on the net somewhere or even on our site. “Nics” – is written in a handwriting kind of way – which gives the feeling that his development also is very creative.

For the presentation I have given a little shadow and reflection and a line representing the horizon. The thin line gives an elegant look to it. Might even be that Nic could make some nice pins to have as giveaways on the next convention that he attends.

If you are joining for the first time or have been hanging around reading and looking at the different designs I have made the last month or so – you shall now also meet the person just as responsible for this design-experience as myself. Meet Nic. He is “all development” and an expert on web-technology. We started Wohill because we wanted, and still want, to share this site with people all over the place. My own speciality is design and art – and, as I mentioned, Nic’s favourite things are web-developments. Nic will also join in now and then explaining somewhat more technological things - such as – different good things that make this site interesting, efficient, searchable on the web and exposing my art and designs. I think we are a great combo.

The design I made for this occasion is made in black and white – it gives more impact that way. It’s almost like black and white photographs – they are a bit timeless. The blunt style of the two characters shows our main characteristics and gives a nice graphic logotype look. Also showing two faces repeatedly gives a massive and alive feeling - describing us and Wohill in a very good way.

Surfers often talk about the perfect wave. I guess everyone has their own definition of this perfect wave. Especially if you don�t surf ”Big wave contest” on a regular day basis. Most people who see an enormous wave on the front of a magazine with a person standing in the middle of the picture, no bigger than a little finger in proportion to the magazine, will at least feel how impressive nature can be. Even though these giants exist one can be pretty happy catching a smaller wave even if it�s a bit washy and no more than a couple of feet high…

Here I have drawn a wave with a very graphic feeling. Different blue colours and lots of circles and dots to give you a little thought towards - perfect wave. The shapes give an organic and flowing look. That makes the wave look big and fast. The wallpaper, under the header ”Wallpaper”, shows some text too. This I felt could be for a poster advertising a new movie or film about the great seas and oceans as well as the perfect spots in the world. The direction I chose here is much more calm than if one had done it more like the style I did for ”The Circle of Action” the other day. So this graphic version is more of an opposite to enhance the right feeling. Danger versus calmness.

Nippe as you saw in the previous design has a favourite trick – Impossible. Now I’m releasing the design of his team-riding sneaker. He will be able to make his esteemed trick in these shoes and train it to perfection. The sneaker I have named it his nickname - “The King”. That is illustrated on the side of the shoe. It’s made in a stencil font to give it some extra roughness and a good opposite to the symbol I also designed for Nippe. He got a spiked symbol resembling a crown. You can also see the ”a” and Nippe’s face on the heel - this to give the brand some extra visualization. The crown is also placed on the nose of the shoe, the side has two crowns and the bottom of the sneaker should of course make that crown-print too. Otherwise I made the sneaker white to give it a clean stylish look. I, myself, like white sneakers too. The red and black outline gives the logos and symbols an extra “popping” feeling - they stand out nice against the white and you see them clearly.

I guess this “a” symbol could be a revised version for the brand – Anarchy - or at least for a special “underground sub-line” within their line or brand.

Right now there are a lot of brands and riders. The brands have team riders and so forth. Today I have added a team rider to ”The Circle of Action” (CoA). He will have his home park – “circle of trust” and the clothes-brand “circle of trust”. I made a little ad about his signature sneaker coming out. One has to expose the brand and also give his fans, or fans to be, a little info and a visual feeling too. The brands today, DCshoe – Quicksilver – Independent - Volcom and many more have really great riders and promote them in lots of cool ways - but I still want to show an alternative way that one could take this brand. So I used my friend ”Nippe” and made a little icon of him. He is in the left corner of the ad, as kind of a header for the ad. The CoA logo is in the right hand bottom corner to be like a sender. A little information should be given, as I said – his favourite trick – Impossible. All this - in the colours of the brand - to show that he belongs to this family of riders and that he also lives their lifestyle.
